Week 10 In the Field: I am certainly blessed to be a missionary.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas this week! I certainly enjoyed speaking with my family through Skype and enjoyed the Christmas celebrations and food here in Gualan.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas day my companion and I got fed an obscene amount of food. Most of it was good, mainly tamales and punch, and a dessert called molletes (a very moist cake essentially).

This week we were able to baptize our investigators Tona and her daughter Helen. Tona is very poor and has a lot of challenges in her life. At the age of 49 she is already a great grandmother. She has a tumor in her womb and is in very poor health.

I was fortunate enough to baptize her on Friday of this week. The night after her baptism she had a dream where I appeared, gave her a blessing, and gave her some pills to take. At the conclusion of the dream she woke up. It was in the middle of the night and her pain that results from her tumor was nonexistent. She kneeled and thanked the Lord and told me of the experience the following day.

This Sunday we saw Cristino and José go on a temple trip and receive the priesthood. This week we will have another baptism and hope that Cristino will be able able to perform the ordinance.

I am certainly blessed to be a missionary. You guys are always in my prayers. Remember the Lord and his mercy and love.

2 Nephi 4 20-24

 20 My God hath been my support; he hath led me through mine afflictions in the wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon the waters of the great deep.

 21 He hath filled me with his love, even unto the consuming of my flesh.

 22 He hath confounded mine enemies, unto the causing of them to quake before me.

 23 Behold, he hath heard my cry by day, and he hath given me knowledge by visions in the night-time.

 24 And by day have I waxed bold in mighty prayer before him; yea, my voice have I sent up on high; and angels came down and administered unto me.
